Preparing for a wilderness-inspired mural commission for a new contemporary Great Camp on Lake George, NY, I spent three weeks trekking the High Peaks area of the Adirondack Mountains in search of compelling locations worthy of attention. Making sketches toward a final proposal, the experience of working in isolation among elaborate and unblemished natural settings became part of the conceptual foundation leading to realization---the immersion of experiential discoveries in wild landscape, with painting.
